We are having a Spring Tack Sale and Fun Day at Bearfoot Ranch in Canton, GA on Sunday, March 21, 2021, from 9 am to 3 pm. This is your opportunity to purchase new and used tack at ridiculously low prices and help an equine non-profit organization at the same time. We will have a wide selection of new and used tack.

If you have extra tack in your tack room, donate it to Bearfoot Ranch for our tack sale. Your donation will fund the mission of Bearfoot Ranch’s Equine Therapy and Horse Rescue. COVID-19 has really hurt our organization and we are hoping that you will share this event with your friends and neighbors.

Not a horse owner? Love horses? Have kids who want to ride? Bring the whole family out to Bearfoot Ranch during our Spring Tack Sale on Sunday, March 21. We will have pony rides, horsey crafts, and a bake sale. Your participation will enable us to continue our mission.

We want to thank Scout Brayden Sessions from Troop 8880 of Union Hill UMC for choosing Bearfoot Ranch for his Eagle Project. Brayden supervised the construction of not one but two projects! He constructed a pergola for the front pasture to provide shade and forage and put a roof on our feeding station. Thank you, Brayden for completing these monumental projects.

Meet Our Two New Horses!

Come on out to meet our two new horses. Meet Coco here on the left and Montana “Tanner” on the right. Both are good boys. We hope one of these guys will be able to fill some very large “shoes” that our beloved therapy horse Jake left behind when he crossed over the rainbow bridge.

Bearfoot Ranch Holiday Wrap-Up

Bearfoot Ranch ended 2019 with our Holiday Fundraising Events:

Hunter’s Tree Farm on Friday November 29 and Saturday the 30th was a great success! Lots and lots of kids standing in line to ride our wonderful ponies! So many kids tell us they come every year as this has become a family tradition!

We also were at Silver City Farm on December 7th and 8th. This was our first year attending their Breakfast with Santa event. The kids had a yummy breakfast catered by Talk of the Town Catering, sat on Santa’s lap to give their Christmas wish list, then they came outside to ride the Bearfoot Ranch horses!

We heard the families loved it and we know the kids did as we saw many smiles and heard lots of giggles! Another great success for Bearfoot Ranch!

A big thank you to both Hunter’s Tree Farm and Silver City Farm for the invitations and to our wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to help make each year a success!! Oh and of course a big thank you to our beautiful sweet horses!

Ed Dabney, World Renown Horse Trainer Provides Gentle Horsemanship Skills

  • Bearfoot Ranch adopts gentle-horsemanship techniques to benefit both horse and athlete for upcoming
SOGA (Special Olympics of Georgia), Forsyth County
  • 25 Forsyth County equine community members attended 2-day horse clinic
  • Future equine education clinics scheduled at Bearfoot Ranch for Forsyth County Equine Community

Gainesville, GA Forsyth County – March 24, 2015– Bearfoot Ranch Inc., 501(c)3, hosted “Six Keys to Harmony” gentle-horsemanship 2-day clinic with world renown horse trainer Ed Dabney, last Saturday, March 21, 2015. Forsyth County horse riders listened and learned the art of gentle horsemanship, which provides horse and rider essential communication, respect, and safe and natural riding skills for all levels.

“We decided to adopt the gentle-horsemanship techniques of Ed Dabney, as we believe his classical training approach will benefit not only our horses, but our athletes, and their handlers. As we prepare for Special Olympics of Georgia 2015, using gentle horsemanship techniques will enhance our training methods, and allow us to continue our quest of providing healing with horses in a safer environment, ” said Melanie Vaughan, Bearfoot Ranch Board Member.

Continuing Education Benefits Riders and Community
Bearfoot staff, patron, and equine community members learned simple ways of establishing trust and command using rope halters and lead lines. Even riders that have been in the saddle for over 20 years learned fascinating new tricks. The event raised over $1000 from its Forsyth County equine friends, and is planning future clinics to help educate the surrounding equine community, as well as raise funds to help pay hay and vet bills.

Dabney, trainer for the horses used on FOX’s series “Sleepy Hollow”, has also provided horses for major motion pictures and travels around the world teaching the art of establishing control of the beautiful animals. He believes that kicking and smacking a horse isn’t the way to earn trust and there are keys to establish gentle control, making the relationship between horse and rider a harmonious one.
